Autumn is a magical season, a time when the veil between worlds feels thin, the air is filled with the scent of falling leaves, the meals are warm and comforting, and the nights grow longer, inviting us to what? Curl up with a good witch fiction book of course! If you’re like me, there’s no better way to embrace the cozy, darker atmosphere of fall than by enjoying some magical witch fiction books over these next few weeks.
So for this week’s post I decided to compromise a list of 10 highly recommended and loved witch fiction books (or series) that perhaps you will want to dive into over these darker months of the year. These books are full of magic, mysticism, feel good energy, and a whole lot of girl power lol.
I hope this list of witch fiction books gives you some inspiration for your own autumn reading and perhaps your holiday Wishlist as well! Without further ado, let’s get on with the list of 10 witch fiction books to read this autumn.
Starting with this classic and no list of witch fiction would be complete without it. Alice Hoffman’s timeless Practical Magic. This enchanting novel tells the story of the Owens sisters, Gillian and Sally, who come from a long line of witches but struggle with the family curse that brings tragedy to anyone they fall in love with. Hoffman’s lyrical prose weaves together themes of love, loss, and magic in a way that feels both mystical and deeply human.
If you’re in the mood for something that combines family drama with a touch of whimsy, this is the book for you. Plus, if you somehow haven’t already seen it, once you’re done with the book (or before lo), you can treat yourself to the absolutely perfect 1998 film adaptation starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.

This one is so very cute! I thoroughly enjoyed it this one and it’s perfect for the fall. Cackle is so charming and witty and it blends humour, witchcraft, and female empowerment just perfectly. The story follows Annie, a recently heartbroken woman who moves to a small, picturesque town in search of a fresh start. There, she befriends the enchanting and mysterious Sophie, whose unconventional lifestyle and seemingly magical abilities open Annie’s eyes to the power of embracing her independence.
With its delightful mix of dark humour (favourite of mine!), friendship, and a basket full of magic, Cackle is an uplifting tale about self-discovery, reclaiming your power, and finding strength in the unexpected. This one really teaches a wonderful life lesson.

This one is such fun! I really loved it and can’t wait for the author’s next release. The Secret Society of Irregular Witches is an incredibly heartwarming and magical tale about belonging and the power of the family you find and make for yourself. The story features Mika Moon, a lonely witch who is used to hiding her magic to fit into a world that doesn’t accept witches. Until she’s invited to a mysterious house filled with eccentric soulful residents, including three young witches in need of Mila’s guidance.
So charming and with a delightful sense of whimsy, this uplifting novel weaves together themes of love, acceptance, and the magic that comes from embracing who you truly are just perfectly. A heartwarming and entertaining read.

I love me a good fiction book like this one! A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon is a delightful and quirky romantic comedy with a magical twist. It follows Mariel Spark, a witch whose accidental summoning of a demon, Ozroth the Ruthless, leads to an unexpected and classic rom com style arrangement—pretending to date to avoid a soul-binding deal.
Filled with humour, chemistry, and enchanting world-building, the book is a fun and lighthearted adventure through a world of witches and demons. With its quick banter and heartwarming moments, this is a fun story about love, self-discovery, and embracing your own inner power.

I flew through this series. It’s so good! The Fever series by is an intense and thrilling urban fantasy filled with dark magic, steamy romance, gripping suspense, and excellent characters that you can’t help but love. Set in a beautifully imagined world where the veil between humans and the Fae is dangerously thin, the series follows MacKayla Lane, an ordinary woman whose quest to solve her sister’s murder draws her into a shadowy realm of ancient feuds and deadly secrets.
With powerful action sequences, and complex characters, the Fever series is an absolutely addictive combination of mystery, danger, and lots of passion that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. I read this series three times at this point lol.

This is another one I have read three times and I just love it! The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy by Nora Roberts is a captivating blend of romance, magic, and Irish folklore (a perfect trio!). Set in the lush, enchanting landscapes of Ireland, the trilogy follows the O’Dwyer cousins—Branna, Connor, and Iona—who inherit ancient powers and must unite to battle a centuries-old evil threatening their family.
With its richly atmospheric setting, deeply rooted magical heritage, and heartfelt relationships, the series offers a perfect mix of fantasy and romance. Nora Roberts weaves together magic, love, friendship, and strong family connections in this enchanting tale, making it a spellbinding must read for fans of magical adventures. Probably my absolute favourite of her magical trilogies that I have read.
Check out the Trilogy on Amazon HERE.
The Three Sisters Island Trilogy’s the first magical trilogy by Nora Roberts that I had read and I was hooked lol. Another series I have read multiple times. It is a mesmerizing tale of love, magic, and destiny. Set on the mystical Three Sisters Island, the books follow three women—Nell, Ripley, and Mia—who must embrace their inherited witchcraft and confront a powerful curse threatening their home and their hearts. Each book focuses on one of the woman and the challenges she must overcome.
With its gorgeous coastal setting, endearing cast of characters, and a perfect balance of romance and magical adventure, this trilogy is a captivating journey of empowerment, friendship, and finding the strength to face your past. It’s so perfect.
Check out the trilogy on Amazon HERE.
This one was recommended to me by a friend and I was not disappointed. The Key Trilogy is an exciting and magical blend of adventure, romance, and mythology. The series follows three women (as Nora loves to do lol)—Mallory, Dana, and Zoe—who are chosen by fate to embark on a quest to find three ancient keys that will unlock the souls of lost goddesses. With their friendship growing stronger and their hearts opening to love, each woman faces personal challenges while battling dark forces.
Filled with suspense, mystical elements, and of course some romance, this trilogy is an uplifting journey of courage, destiny, love, the power of friendship, and believing in yourself.
Check out the trilogy on Amazon HERE.
This one came highly recommended which is why I picked it up and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book was published about 15 years ago but it is relatively new to me lol. Not sure how I hadn’t come across it before just a couple of years ago. The Witch’s Daughter by is a spellbinding and immersive tale that weaves together history, magic, and timeless themes of love and survival. The novel follows Elizabeth Hawksmith, a 300-year-old witch who has lived through centuries of adventure, heartache, and danger. As she recounts her journey—from 17th-century England to the present day—she confronts her dark past and a dangerous warlock who still hunts her.
Brackston’s unique storytelling and vivid historical detail create a captivating atmosphere, making this novel a perfect read for fans of witchcraft, history, and enduring personal transformation.I will definitely be picking up some of the authors other witchy works.

This is the only book I decided to put on the list that I haven’t actually read because of all the praise it has received and it is on my shelf waiting to be read this autumn. So the story follows Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna—as they reunite to bring back witchcraft and fight for women’s rights during the suffrage movement.
The beautifully built world and themes of sisterhood bonds, resilience, and empowerment seemingly makes this one a must read for witches who love some fiction in their lives. People have really fallen in love with the story and characters here which is why it is on my list for the season. Perhaps we can read it together and compare notes!

Now these are just some of the amazing witch fiction books out there that I thought deserved a mention. There are so many more that would definitely be wonderful additions to your library. And so many amazing titles have come out in recent years I can hardly keep up. I realize some of my favourites are oldies but goodies lol.
So, whether you’re in the mood for a light-hearted and whimsical read or something with a bit of a darker atmosphere these stories will transport you to worlds where witches wield power, confront their pasts, and shape their own destinies. And really, we all need more stories like that in our lives. So get cozy, grab your favourite brew, and curl up with the book here that stands out for you the most.
Do you love witch fiction? What is your favourite book or series that you’ve read?

The veil is thinning and Samhain is once again upon us! A highly anticipated time for many. This time of year is perfect for divination practices, personal growth, rebirth, renewal, protection magic, and releasing things that are no longer serving you. And what is an excellent tool when creating ritual around these themes? Crystals of course! That’s why today we are exploring some incredible crystals for Samhain that you may like to include in your own rituals and festivities.
As the dark half of the year begins, Samhain, which takes place on October 31st, offers a unique opportunity to connect with deeper spiritual energies, honour ancestors, and reflect on personal growth. This is also often thought of as the Witches New Year.
Crystals can play a powerful role in enhancing your Samhain practices by amplifying energies around grounding, protection, insight, and so many others.
Some of the best crystals for Samhain are those that help you stay balanced and in focus while you explore the thinning veil between the physical and spirit worlds. From protective black tourmaline to intuitive-enhancing black obsidian, these stones amplify the magic of the season, making your rituals and meditations more powerful and likely to manifest your desires.
Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season, is a time when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest (the only other time this happens is during the Sabbat, Beltane). It’s a season for looking inward, reflecting, connecting with ancestors, and honouring spirit, and spirits lol. Crystals can enhance these practices, providing energies such as grounding, protection, and clarity as you navigate the deeper energies of Samhain. Whether you’re setting up an altar, meditating, or performing rituals, using the right crystals can amplify the magic and meaning of this sacred time.
Harnessing the power of crystals during Samhain can deepen your spiritual practice and help you align with the energies that surround us this time of year. With the veil between worlds at its thinnest, crystals act as valuable tools for protection, grounding, and spiritual connection. They can also amplify your intentions, making your Samhain rituals that much more powerful. For more info on Samhain in general you can check out my full post discussing this incredible Sabbat, Samhain: Witches, Winter, & a New Year HERE.
When choosing crystals for Samhain, look for gemstones that resonate with the energy that the season is calling for as well as with your own specific intentions. For Samhain, crystals like onyx, smokey quartz, and black obsidian can be especially powerful. Onyx carries energies for personal growth and balance. Smokey quartz is well known for enhancing divination work and in strengthening manifestations, while black obsidian brings clarity and deepens the connection to your own intuition. Energies that perfectly align with this time of year and the types of intentions you may wish to be focusing on.
You will also want to consider your own personal goals when choosing your crystals for Samhain. Do you want protection? Clarity and insight into a certain situation? To connect with ancestors or perhaps a deeper connection with your inner self? By selecting the right stones with intention and incorporating them into your rituals, meditations, altars and spaces, you can harness their power to make the most of this magical time.
In the fascinating and sometimes mysterious world of crystals, each stone carries its unique properties and energies. As we approach this energy charged part of the year, it’s a wonderful time to really dive into the meanings and powers of crystals and perhaps discover some that are new to you. Embrace the thinning of the veil, welcome in change and transformation, and open your mind to all possibilities. Now with that being said, let’s look at some particularly beneficial crystals for Samhain and this darker part of the year.
This list is not exhaustive but these are some of my favourites will most definitely add to the power and meaning of your own Samhain celebrations.
I think we all have favourite crystals that are our go to’s, the Sabbats provide a wonderful time to branch out and explore your connection with different crystals. As you go through these suggestions, I encourage you to pick at least one crystal you don’t often work with or is brand new to you and incorporate it into your festivities this year. You may just discover a new favourite. Okay now, onto the list!
This is one of my absolute favourites for any time of year and if there’s one crystal you want by your side during Samhain, it’s black tourmaline. This stone is the ultimate master at grounding and protecting your energy from negative influences. As the veil between worlds thins, it’s important to create a protective shield around yourself, especially when engaging in ancestor work or divination. Even if you use other crystals as well it’s smart to have this one by your side.

Another absolute favourite for entirely different reasons. Carnelian, with its fiery orange hue, is all about motivation, creativity, and confidence. This crystal is perfect for boosting your energy levels and helping you move forward and gain momentum towards your intentions. This is a year round staple for me (love to wear during workouts!) but is especially powerful in times of renewal and transformation such as Samhain.

Smokey quartz is pure magic and a powerful manifesting stone that is especially useful during Samhain. It helps to clear out negative energy while keeping you firmly rooted to the Earth. This makes it ideal for rituals where you need to stay balanced but also connected to higher spiritual realms.

Hematite is one of the best stones for grounding and stabilizing energy. Its reflective surface mirrors the truth back to you, making it an excellent tool for introspective work and reflection. Hematite can also help to balance the mind and body, which is especially useful during Samhain when the spiritual and physical worlds overlap.

Samhain is all about confronting the shadow aspects of ourselves, making black obsidian a perfect companion. This crystal helps you see through the distraction and get to the truth, no matter how uncomfortable it might be. Black obsidian is often used for scrying, divination, and shadow work, making it ideal for Samhain rituals.

Amber is not technically a crystal, but it’s a powerful tool to use for honoring ancestors. It’s perfect for rituals where you want to communicate with ancestors or pay respects to those who have passed.

Garnet is a stone that represents both protection and motivation—two themes that are strongly connected to Samhain. As the earth slows down and prepares for winter, garnet helps us remain energetically protected as we push to create positive transformation and new beginnings in our lives. It can be an emotional endeavour as we must allow our old selves to die in order to start anew.

Jet is a deeply insightful stone that’s often associated with bringing about clarity into situations where you most need it. During Samhain, we often reflect on those who have passed, and jet helps to provide insights that are comforting during this time. It’s also known for absorbing negative energy, making it a great stone to keep close during divination or spiritual communication.

Onyx is a powerful crystal for personal growth, focus, and creating balance. Samhain rituals can range from simple to complex and should always be geared towards your personal situation and intentions. Here are a few easy ways to incorporate these crystals into your Samhain activities for some inspiration:
Create a Samhain Altar: Choose crystals that resonate with your goals (protection, grounding, ancestor work, personal growth) and arrange them on your altar along with candles, leaves, and photos of loved ones who have passed.
Crystal Grids for Protection and Transformation: Use black tourmaline, jet, and hematite in a crystal grid to protect your home, or create a grid with carnelian, garnet, and bloodstone to encourage personal transformation and continued motivation during these darker weeks ahead.
Meditation and Reflection: Hold one of these crystals while you meditate or journal on the year past and the coming year ahead. Set your intentions for the darker months and ask for guidance from your ancestors.
Scrying and Divination: Use black obsidian for scrying or place smokey quartz near your tarot cards or pendulum for enhanced clarity and focus in your divination practices.
Working with crystals can be incredibly fulfilling and by incorporating them into your Samhain rituals, you can gain results greater than you even imagined. Whether you’re protecting your space, honouring your ancestors, uncovering inner demons, or clearing away the old to make space for positive rebirth and transformation, these stones will support you on your journey into the darker half of the year.
These are just some ideas and you of course don’t have to do everything or use every crystal. Choose just one or two of these crystals and ritual ideas that will help prepare you to hone in on the energies of the season, reach your goals, and manifest all of those intentions and new beginnings that you have been envisioning for yourself. And remember YOU are the greatest magic in all of this. ✨
Do you like to include crystals in your Samhain celebrations? Or do you have a favourite you like to work with this time of year?

The October 2024 full moon, also known as the Blood Moon or Hunter’s Moon, will light up the sky with powerful energy (is it just me or are October full moons the most powerful?), marking a time of harvest, reflection, and preparation for the colder darker months ahead.
So today on the blog I wanted to share some beneficial affirmations and intentions that you can focus on to really harness and make the most of this full moon energy. First though, let’s look at the types of energy we can expect from this full moon.
This October Full Moon energy is grounded and reflective, encouraging us to release what no longer serves, and make space for new intentions and goal setting. It will be an opportune time to really tap into your intuition and gain some clarity really making it ideal for personal growth, transformation, letting go of old patterns, and breaking free from negative habits.
This full moon will also bring with it a sense of focus and determination which will be helpful in aligning us with our goals and getting us excited to embrace positive change in our lives.
Traditionally, the October full moon is a time for gathering resources and completing lingering tasks before the winter months which also makes it perfect for personal reflection and growth. As the moon rises, allow yourself to step into the best version of you and embrace positive change and transformation within yourself.
Okay, let’s talk intentions! Key words for this full moon include focus, clarity, release, renewal, transformation, growth, intuition, and change. Here are some of the best intentions to set during this full moon:
Focusing on these intentions over the next week will really help you align with the magic and energy that this October full moon will be bringing into our lives and help you prepare and make the most of the days and weeks ahead.
Now let’s get into some affirmation talk. Firstly, what exactly are they?
If you found yourself at my blog you probably already know but let’s just do a little recap. Affirmations are positive statements or phrases that help one to overcome negative thoughts or self-doubt and step into the best versions of themselves. By repeating daily affirmations, either aloud, silently, or in written form, we can change our thought patterns to embrace and reflect a more optimistic and empowering mindset.
They are also an incredibly powerful tool when trying to manifest personal goals, increase self-confidence, deal with difficult emotions and improve mental health.
Affirmations help us to reinforce beliefs that align with our desired outcomes. They help us focus on growth and positive changes that can ultimately aid in bringing our dream self and life into our current reality.
Affirmations are a crucial part of cultivating healthy routines because they influence our mindset and how we perceive ourselves and the outside world. By focusing on positive, empowering thoughts, affirmations can counteract negative self-talk and limiting beliefs. Things that are most likely holding you back from reaching your goals.
These little phrases can help us to stay focused and motivated on our goals, and help us grow into more optimistic, healthier, and motivated individuals. If we are consistent with them they can help us to reach heights our past selves could have hardly imagined.
With that, here’s a quick bullet point list of benefits from practicing affirmations daily:
Lastly, here are 25 affirmations for the October 2024 full moon that will help inspire you and your own full moon rituals and activities:
These are just some examples to get you started. Feel free to use them as they are, tailor them to your own specific needs, and create your own as well! May this full moon serve you well and offer you the energy you need to move forward on your path with ease, confidence, and clarity.
Do you already include affirmations as part of your routines? Have you found them helpful on your manifestation journey?

Ah friends, it’s that time of year again! Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, the most magical time of year is finally upon us once again. It marks the moment when day and night are in perfect balance, and signals the shift from the warmth of summer to the cooler darker embrace of fall. Whether you want to plan out a whole day of festivities or do something simpler (though just as meaningful!) this post has got you as we discuss 10 magical ways to celebrate Mabon and the Autumn Equinox!
As the days gradually shorten and that distinct autumn crispness fills the air, the arrival of the autumn equinox offers a perfect opportunity to embrace the vibrant transitions of the season. This magical time, often celebrated by those who walk the path of the witch (like many of you reading) and practitioners of seasonal living, invites us to pause and reflect on nature’s remarkable cycles. The autumn equinox, marked by equal day and night, symbolizes balance and the shift towards a more introspective time of year. From celebrating the harvest to connecting with the earth’s energies, there are myriad of festive ways to honour this enchanting season and all it has to offer.
First, let’s briefly discuss what this day is and what it means. The Autumn Equinox, often referred to as Mabon, is celebrated by various cultures and communities as a time of balance between light and dark, day and night. The equinox not only signals the transition into fall but also invites us to honour the bounty of the harvest season. As we gather around tables laden with fresh produce and seasonal delights, we express gratitude for the abundance provided by the earth.
Mabon is the pagan holiday celebrated during the autumn equinox, typically around September 21-24 in the Northern Hemisphere and March 21 – 24 in the Southern Hemisphere. This year the equinox will take place on September 22nd. Mabon is the second of three harvest festivals, the other two being Lughnasadh and Samhain, and is associated with themes of harvest, abundance, gratitude, growth, and reflection.
The autumn equinox, in a broader sense, is the astronomical event when the sun crosses the celestial equator, signalling the transition from summer to fall. It represents a time of balance and is often celebrated with rituals of thanksgiving and preparation for the colder darker months ahead.
For more info you can check out my full post on Mabon and the Autumn Equinox HERE.
Autumn celebrations revolve around the themes of reflection and gratitude, encouraging us to acknowledge the fruits of our labour before the winter months set in. Many traditions embrace the idea of sharing, whether by hosting equinox dinners or participating in community events that highlight the importance of togetherness. Seasonal ingredients such as squash, apples, and nuts take centre stage in these gatherings, allowing everyone to partake in the flavours that define this time of year. Lighting candles and decorating spaces with fallen leaves and corn husks can create a warm, inviting atmosphere that embodies the essence of harvest celebrations.
Mabon also serves as a pivotal sabbat in the wheel of the year, symbolizing both completion and preparation. It’s a time to reflect on personal growth and the achievements of the past year. Many individuals take this opportunity to set intentions for the months ahead, embracing change as they prepare for the upcoming winter. Rituals will vary and should be a reflection of yourself and your own practice, but they can often include gatherings, storytelling, mindful meditation, candle magic, and kitchen witchery to enhance the spirit of gratitude, awareness, and abundance.
One of the simplest yet most rewarding ways to honour the equinox is to spend time outdoors. Take a walk through the forest or around your neighbourhood, do an outdoor meditation or movement practice, visit a park, or enjoy a meal outside.
As the season transitions, nature offers a beautiful display of change—leaves turning vivid shades of red, orange, and yellow; cooler breezes; animals preparing for winter. Take your time to notice the little details. What trees are starting to lose their leaves? How have the smells and sounds changed from the height of summer? Use this time to ground yourself, breathe in the fresh air, and appreciate the shifting energy of the season.
Many who follow the path of the witch have an altar in their home. The seasons are a wonderful time to give them a bit of a refresh. The autumn equinox has long been associated with harvest celebrations. You can honor this tradition by dedicating your home altar to the harvest season. Gather seasonal items like pumpkins, gourds, apples, dried corn, and fallen leaves. Add candles in autumnal colors like deep orange, burgundy, or brown to symbolize the warmth and richness of the season. If you like, you can also include items that represent balance, such as stones or images of the sun and moon. Use the altar as a place to reflect on your own “harvest”—the goals you’ve achieved or the growth you’ve experienced over the past year.
Speaking of harvests, fall is the perfect time to embrace the flavors of the season with a delicious, hearty meal and if you’ve been on the blog before you know we love a little kitchen magic with our witchcraft practice around here! Think squash, sweet potatoes and root veggies, apples, and pears. You could bake an apple pie or some fresh bread, roast root veggies, or make a comforting bowl of butternut squash soup. There’s something about the smells and flavors of fall that make a meal feel extra special and comforting. You may even like to invite friends or family over for a cozy autumn equinox dinner, or simply enjoy a peaceful meal at home, savoring the bounty of the season on your own.
The autumn equinox is a time of balance between light and dark, and it offers a great opportunity to reflect on the balance in your own life. Take a few minutes to meditate or journal about areas where you feel in harmony and areas where you may be out of balance. Are you spending too much time working? Are you practicing adequate self-care? Are you feeling grounded and content in your life at the moment? The equinox invites you to make positive changes so you can move forward towards your goals and manifest your intentions with a sense of equilibrium as the darker months approach.
If you’re the crafty DIY type, the equinox is awonderful time to get creative and dive into a fall-themed project. You could make a wreath out of fallen leaves, pinecones, and twigs, or create candles infused with autumn scents like cinnamon or clove, craft a sachet for abundance or a magical mist for motivation. Creating things that bring you joy, align with the season, and with a little magic thrown in can be an extremely satisfying and meaningful way to make this day that much more special.
As the days grow shorter and the nights longer, taking part in fire magic (safely and responsibly!) can be a perfect way to celebrate the changing season. If you have access to a fire pit, gather some friends or family, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the warmth of a fire under the early fall sky, perform a candle meditation, set-up candles around the home, light some incense, or perform burning ritual in your cauldron for releasing what no longer serves. Fire has long been a symbol of transformation, and watching the flames dance can serve as a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the changing seasons.
Since the equinox is tied to harvest traditions, it’s a natural time to focus on gratitude for what the year has brought you thus far. Take a few moments to think about what you’re thankful for—whether it’s personal accomplishments, supportive relationships, or simple joys like the beauty of the changing leaves. Consider writing a list of these things in a gratitude journal, say them aloud to the universe or create a gratitude jar with your list of items. Practicing gratitude can be a powerful way to shift your mindset and remind yourself of the abundance that exists in your life, even as the days grow shorter. Gratitude is so important in terms of creating a happier, healthier life for yourself and for your manifestion goals.
As the autumn nights become longer, it’s a great time to do a little stargazing and appreciate the magic of the dark. I know not all share this sentiment, but I absolutely adore seeing the nights grow longer in the fall. It has it’s own special kind of magic that hits me right in the soul.
The crisp, clear skies of fall also often provide excellent conditions for seeing stars, planets, and constellations. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Milky Way or spot the bright planet Venus. The equinox is a celestial event, so what better way to honour it than by spending time with the night sky? If you live in a city, consider driving to a more rural location if possible where light pollution won’t dim your view. Bring a blanket, a warm drink, and enjoy the beauty of the stars above.
The equinox is a perfect midpoint to reflect on the year behind you and prepare for the months ahead. Consider journaling about what you’ve achieved, what challenges you’ve faced, and what lessons you’ve learned so far this year. I always like to write out fresh intentions or create a new fall vision board. This reflection can help you identify what you’d like to focus on for the rest of the year. What are your intentions and goals as we move into the darker half of the year? How can you use this time of transition to grow and evolve? Use the equinox as a time to set goals or intentions for the coming months. You can also wear crystals for renewal, put on a simmer pot for growth or new beginnings, and do energy and home cleansings for a fresh start within yourself and your space.
As nature begins to slow down and prepare for the quiet of winter, the equinox is a gentle reminder that we, too, need rest. Use this time to restore your energy, whether that means taking a long, relaxing bath, curling up with a good book, putting on some of your favourite autumn themed movies (Practical Magic anyone?) or simply allow yourself some extra sleep. In our fast-paced world, it is very easy to forget the importance of rest, but the autumn equinox invites us to embrace it, sit with it and enjoy it. Just as the trees shed their leaves and the animals prepare for hibernation, we can also let go of what no longer serves us and make space for restoration and renewal. Performing a ritual or meditation for letting go are also very powerful activities at this point in the year.
As we celebrate this magical time of year, let us immerse ourselves in the joy of autumn festivities. Whether through your own magical traditions, community celebrations, or simply enjoying nature’s beauty, we can honour the equinox and the harvest it represents. Mabon invites us to come together in gratitude, nurturing our connections with each other and the Earth as we welcome the beauty of change.
Celebrating the autumn equinox doesn’t have to be elaborate or time-consuming. Whether you’re taking a quiet moment of reflection or gathering with loved ones around a fire, the equinox offers a chance to pause, appreciate the natural world, and honour the balance within ourselves and the universe. However, you choose to mark the day, let it be a celebration of the beauty and abundance of the season. Autumn Equinox and Mabon blessings!

Ah friends! The most glorious and wonderful time of year is once again gracing us with her presence! The ‘ber months have arrived and Autumn is but days away! That’s why today we are exploring some incredible crystals for your Autumn Equinox rituals.
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, the Autumn Equinox marks the perfect time to balance, reflect, and prepare for the coming months. This turn of the wheel, which occurs around September 21-23, is all about balance—day and night are equal, reminding us to find our own balance in this often chaotic world. One way to tap into the magical energy of the Autumn Equinox is by working with crystals. These little gems from the earth can help you align with the season’s themes of gratitude, introspection, and transformation. In this post we’ll discuss 10 of the best crystals to bring into your autumn equinox rituals and activities, plus some fun ways to use them!
As the leaves begin to change color and the days grow shorter, the arrival of the Fall Equinox marks a special time of transition and balance. This is a time when we can harness the energy and power of crystals to enhance our spiritual journey during this magical season.
Now, whether you’re a true fan and believer of crystal magic or simply intrigued by the beauty of gemstones, incorporating crystals into your fall rituals can enhance your connection to nature and bring about much positive energy into this fresh new season.
During the Fall Equinox, also known as Mabon, crystal magic can be especially powerful. Mabon is the second of our three harvest festivals that celebrates the harvest and the abundance of the Earth. It is a time of giving thanks and reflecting on the balance between light and dark. By using specific gemstones that align with this seasonal change, we can tap into the harmonious energy and enhance our ability to manifest our intentions. For more info on Mabon you can check out my full post discussing this incredible Sabbat, Mabon: Life, Death & Autumn Leaves, HERE.
When choosing crystals for autumn, look for gemstones that resonate with the energy of the season and with your own specific intentions. For Mabon, crystals like moss agate, citrine, and carnelian can be especially powerful. Moss Agate carries the energy of nature and strengthens our connection to the earth. Citrine is known as a stone of abundance and prosperity, while carnelian is associated with motivation and creativity. These gemstones can help us focus our intentions on gratitude, abundance, and the balance between light and dark during this transitional time.
There are so many ways to incorporate gemstones into your Autumn Equinox rituals; it can be as simple as placing them in your sacred space, holding them during meditation, wearing them as jewelry, or carrying them with you throughout the day. By harnessing the power of crystals, we can deepen our connection to the Earth’s energy and invite peace, abundance and joy into our lives during the Fall Equinox and throughout the fall season. And who wouldn’t want to experience that?
As the summer season comes to a close and we begin to move into the magical time that is autumn, it’s important to embrace the energy and opportunity that comes with this brand new season. This is a time when nature shows us its beautiful transformation, and we can choose to align ourselves with its rhythms. One way to do just that is through the use of crystals. These treasures from the earth hold unique properties that can support and enhance our experience during this season.
Embrace the Mabon energy and tap into the magic of crystals this autumn. Whether you choose carnelian, smokey quartz, citrine, or another crystal that resonates with you personally, allow their energies to guide and support you during this season of change and transformation. By incorporating crystal magic into your life, you can create a harmonious and abundant autumn experience that will be your most magical one yet.
In the magical and sometimes mysterious world of crystals, each gemstone carries its unique properties and energies. As we transition into the autumn season, it’s the perfect time to delve into the meanings and powers of crystals and perhaps some that are new to you. Fall is a time of reflection, transformation, and gratitude, and harnessing the energies of certain crystals can enhance these aspects of our lives. So, let’s embark on a journey to explore the top 10 crystals for fall and unlock their potential.
This list is not exhaustive but these are some of my favourites for this time of year and will certainly enhance your own Autumn Equinox celebrations.
I think we all have favourite crystals that are our go to’s, the Sabbats are wonderful times to branch out and explore your connection with different crystals. It’s that time of year my witches! The season of the witch is in full swing and Samhain is upon us!
Samhain is always a highly anticipated night in our house and in the witch community in general.
Now when you think of celebrating such a big Sabbat you may think, oh I need 16 hours, flowy robes, a bonfire, a coven, and a spirit to communicate with in order to do this properly or I may as well do nothing at all. Not at all the case! Samhain is the perfect time to get in the kitchen, get your hands into some ingredients from the earth, and make some practical magic.
So today I wanted to share with you some foods that are specifically connected to Samhain and have particularly beneficial properties for the energy of the season.
I’ve also included some recipe ideas and inspiration links to get you started.
Samhain is an exceptional night for many. Even if you don’t identify as a witch, but are a seasonal living enthusiast embracing this day is such a big part of it. And it’s filled with so much lore and meaning that it should really be a hallmark in everyone’s Autumn season.
If you read my post on Ways to Live Seasonally, you’ll remember that embracing seasonal activities and holidays, is on there. And if you haven’t seen it just yet do click through and give it a little look!
This day is a thinning of the veil and a celebration of life, death, and new beginnings, let us harness that energy in order to motivate and propel us forward into the darker part of the year with renewed energies, motivation, and hope. The kitchen is a perfect place to help us do just that.
Just a quick note to make a little distinction. It is totally fine for one to celebrate Samhain and our more modern Halloween traditions together in harmony.
A lot of people only celebrate one or the other without a second thought which is totally okay too. But, for me, I love both so very much and I don’t believe the fun and joy of one takes anything away from the beautiful and special traditions of the other.
Our modern-day Halloween traditions evolved from Samhain after all. So although they are indeed very different in today’s modern world they are still connected and, at least in my house, both can be celebrated with great enthusiasm.
So regardless whether you celebrate Samhain, Halloween, or a combination of the two there are delicious ideas here to help you plan a meaningful, beautiful, and tasty celebration.
Here we go!
Rosemary & Garlic Herbed Bread

September has arrived once again and Autumn is but days away! This time of year fills me with life, positivity, and energy. It’s also a time that welcomes change into our lives and what better way to help that along than with a little magic. So this week I bring you a New Moon Candle Ritual for Transformation!
It might be left from our adolescent years when September meant the start of a new school year or that the Witch’s New Year (Samhain) is fast approaching but September brings with it a sense of renewal. It’s a great time to start healthy habits, move forward with confidence towards that goal you’ve had your eye on, and to take the steps you’ve been meaning to towards being the best damn human you can be.
Well not entirely lol. However, the New Moon is an opportune time for starting anew, clearing out the old, welcoming in change, setting fresh intentions, and making the commitment to move forward with motivation and positivity towards whatever it may be that you’ve been chasing.
The Full Moon always gets the most attention but over the years I have been becoming just as, if not more, excited for the New Moon phase. I love a new beginning and the energy that fills the air during this time.
This month let’s harness it, welcome it in, and start down the path towards living the best life we possibly can.
There is no time like the present. This September New Moon in Virgo falls on September. Bringing with it some powerful energy to help you gain clarity, find balance, feel grounded, be motivated, and to feel fully ready for beautiful transformation and change to take place.
1–2 drops pine or peppermint essential oil (properly diluted) for renewal
Do you like to include candle magic as part of your practice? Do you always look forward to the new moon?
As always, I love to hear from you, so please leave a comment or connect with me on socials.

What’s better than muffins for breakfast or a tasty afternoon pick me up? These Vegan Plum and Walnut Muffins are the perfect summer time combo. Plums are in season and absolutely divine this time of year.
A favourite snack at any age, muffins are one of my favourite things to bake. Making them at home enables you to use healthy whole food ingredients and a lot less sugar than ones bought from the shops and cafes. This particular recipe also comes together very easily and can be made gluten and nut free.
Not to mention these are also a perfect addition to your Lughnasadh festivities if you are celebrating in the next few days. The ingredients and properties within pair incredibly well with our first harvest festival of the year. For more info on Lughnasadh you can check out my post HERE.
These plum and walnut muffins include properties for abundance, protection, love, health, longevity, and healing. Okay, let’s get into this recipe!
While going through the steps to prepare your muffins, clear your mind of outside noise and keep your intention clear in your thoughts. Focus on gaining protection, be it mental, physical, emotional, or psychic. Tailor the intention to match your current situation. What area do you want to bring a cloak of protection into your life? Be specific with your goal.
Makes 10 – 12 muffins | Time: 35 minutes

Preparation:
These store well in an airtight container for about 3 days or in the fridge for a day or two longer.
Do you regularly perform any of your witchcraft practice in the kitchen? Do you enjoy using plums in your baking?
