Winter is a time of cozy sweaters, warm beverages, curling up with a good book, and some extra self love and care. However, keeping the beauty routines up in the winter can also sometimes be challenging when we might be feeling a little lazy and our skin is also likely battling with the cold dry air. So today I wanted to share some winter beauty recipes! These can help you elevate your winter routine, bring some magic and intention into beauty regime, and you can even make them all super easily right at home.
With the rest and reset energy of the winter season, treating ourselves to a little extra luxury when it comes to our beauty routines can feel oh so good. You might even give yourself a little winter glow up before the spring arrives and these recipes are here to help!
These winter beauty recipes are crafted with intention and with wholesome all natural ingredients. They are also quick and simple to put together. I suggest making crafting each of these into a little ritual for yourself. Include candles, crystals, incense, maybe some music and any other symbols that you might attach to the intentions you are putting into each recipe. Let your magic imbue each with the energy you want to attract and they will help you not only manifest great skin but your goals and desires as well.
Not to mention when it’s cold outside it just feels great to create something special for ourselves that can benefit us in so many ways.
First, Why Natural and DIY Recipes?
Using beauty products that are more natural can drastically lower the toxic load our body has to carry on a daily basis. The amount of toxins our bodies are subjected to these days are a plenty And the amount used in generic cosmetic and beauty products can add substantially to that load. So, no need to make it even harder on our bodies to filter these things out.
These toxins can be harmful to our physical selves and block our natural energies from flowing well. We can’t avoid them completely, unless you are living off-grid in the woods maybe. But what we can do is always strive to eliminate them wherever possible. Committing to using natural beauty products is a fantastic way to do this. Either through creating your own or purchasing from dedicated natural brands.
Then of course there is the element of creating these each with our own energies and intentions woven into them. The perfect definition of practical magic and really making your witchcraft and spiritual practice a special part of your daily life. Rather than just something you do on the full moon.
So, here are a few winter beauty recipes that will help us, not just survive winter, but thrive throughout it both physically and spiritually.

Dry Skin Face Serum for Beauty
If your skin feels like it’s crying out for moisture in the winter, this face serum might just become your new best friend. The ingredients are super nourishing and work magic on dry skin. I am a fan of face serums often over creams even in the warmer months. Serums are often developed with very specific needs in mind though depending on your skin type lots of people benefit from using both a serum and a cream. This one takes just minutes to put together and is including nourishing and easy on the skin.
Fill a 30ml amber glass dropper bottle with the following:
- 15ml sweet almond oil
- 10ml evening primrose oil
- 5 ml chamomile oil
- 5 drops jasmine essential oil
- 4 drops lavender essential oil
Shake the bottle for 30 seconds after filling and recite:
‘Beauty outside and beauty within. Beauty radiates through heart, mind, and skin’
Each day you apply the serum you can repeat this little chant to re- affirm your intentions.
Why It Works: These ingredients work so well together! Evening Primrose Oil is wonderful for fine lines, calming inflammation, and hydration while chamomile oil is soothing, and reduces redness and dark circles. Sweet Almond Oil is the perfect base as it is incredibly hydrating, improves skin tone, and absorbs quickly. Energetic properties of the serum include beauty, joy, protection, clarity, creativity, and balance.
2. Hydrating Bath Salts for Cleansing
Hydrating Bath Salts for Cleansing
Who doesn’t love a warm cleansing bath in the winter! Adding salts and oils into it can provide so many benefits to your skin, there is really no reason not to indulge here. Making your salts can be a very therapeutic practice before the bath even begins.
This recipe makes 5 cups of bath salts. Seal in an air tight glass jar. I personally have a smaller jar to keep at the ready and then put the extras aside in a larger jar. You can also make a smaller batch if you prefer.
- 1 cup epsom salts
- 2 cups pink himalayan sea salt
- 2 cups dead sea salt
- 1 tbsp juniper berries (crushed)
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 5 drops rosemary essential oil
- 20 drops vanilla essential oil
Why It Works: Salts like epsom, Dead Sea, and Himalayan are amazing at detoxing, cleansing, hydrating, and calming to the skin. Juniper berries are rich in anti-oxidants and provide an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and the essential oils provide so many benefits as well both energetically and physically such as boosting circulation, brightening the skin, reducing redness and purifying the skin. The energetic properties are a plenty including renewal, positivity, energy, clarity, health, success, and prosperity.
3. Winter Wonderland Body Mist
Winter Wonderland Body Mist
Now, in my opinion, no beauty routine is complete with a little body mist or oil to complete the ritual. This recipes has some wonderful energetic benefits and smells absolutely divine for the winter season! Also the recipe comes together in a snap.
Fill a 120ml spray bottle with the following:
- 30 ml witch hazel
- 2.5 g vegetable glycerin
- 10 drops ginger essential oil
- 6 drops sweet orange essential oil
- 6 drops lemon essential oil
- Fill up with distilled water
Shake for 30 seconds while visualizing your most strong and successful self and recite:
‘My soul is open success will be mine My goals will be reached it’s my time to shine’
Why It Works: Body mists on their own are refreshing, hydrating, and soothing to our skin and this one also houses quite the energetic punch. Energetic properties include positivity, creativity, love, health, healing, money, prosperity, and success.
Bonus Winter Skincare Tips
Bonus: Winter Skin Care Tips
Winter can be challenging for our skin so I just wanted to end off with a few tried and true skincare tip to help keep your skin glowing naturally from the inside out all season long:
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water is just as important as using hydrating skincare products.
- Use a Humidifier: I love turning up the heat in winter making it nice and cozy inside (I know I am not alone here!). However, dry indoor air can make your skin even more dehydrated and using a humidifier can help keep some of that moisture in for us.
- Avoid Hot Showers: As tempting as they are especially in the winter, hot showers strip your skin of natural oils. Try to stay closer to warm than scalding hot and ending your shower with cold water can help retain moisture in the skin so bonus points if you can manage it!
- Apply Moisturizer on Damp Skin: Apply your creams before your skin is completely dried off. This helps lock in moisture and keeps your skin soft for longer.
- Don’t Skip Sunscreen: Yes even in the winter! UV rays can damage your skin no matter the season, so make sure you apply SPF daily.
- Eat Healthy Fats: Foods like avocados, nuts, and flaxseeds help maintain skin hydration from the inside out and can help your skin remain glowing, hydrated and youthful.
- Exfoliate Regularly: Those dead skin cells can really pile up lol. Removing them helps your moisturizer penetrate better keeping your skin fresh and smooth.
- Use Overnight Masks: Nighttime is the best time to deeply nourish your skin. This is a great Sunday reset type of activity.
- Wear Gloves & Scarves: Even if it seems like a pain. Protecting your skin from the cold temperatures of winter will help to keep it hydrated, less irritated, and more youthful.
- Opt for Gentle Cleansers: This is where trying to use products with as least mostly natural ingredients comes in. Synthetic products contain a lot of harsh additives that can wreak havoc on our skin.
Final Thoughts.
Crafting our own skincare products and weaving our magic within them can be incredibly rewarding and is an absolute perfect magical activity for the winter season. I like to batch make my own things when I have the time (like when its a little bit colder outside) so that I know I will have some more at the ready when the time comes.
I encourage your to also get creative, play with the recipes, put together your own special rituals while crafting them and have fun! When you go to use them it is going to be an extra special experience knowing you made them with natural ingredients, your own inner power, and extra TLC you just wouldn’t get when things are store-bought. There is obviously a time and place for both crafting your own and purchasing from the store but enjoy the experience and the results of your efforts with these recipes!
I hope you you are feeling inspired and that these winter beauty recipes add meaning and nourishment to your own beauty routines throughout the winter months and beyond.
