Well pixie dolls, the darker months have arrived, winter is upon us, and with it incredibly short days, colder nights, and a certain stillness that can feel both wonderfully cozy and at the same time a little heavy and draining.
For some, winter is a magical season of snowflakes, warm drinks, simmer pots, comfort foods, festive lights, and all around good cheer. However, for others, it can feel isolating, low and sometimes sad, as if the cold seeps not only into our bones but also our spirits.
If you’re in the later group this post is definitely for you, and if you are in the first group, this post is still for you! Lol, whether we need to lift your spirits or amplify our already high vibe energy the tools and resources I talk about here will be able to help.
So, first let’s chat about how mindfulness and spirituality can help keep your light shining—even when the sun might be hiding out behind layers of clouds. And afterwards we will go into some specific tools and elements you can add into your day to help amplify this energy in your environment. It’s a bit of a long one, so grab your favourite cozy beverage and settle in!
Winter has a natural calm and hush about it. The world slows down, and nature retreats into stillness. We are always so go go go that we should strive to embrace this feeling. This is an opportune time for reflection, rejuvenation, looking inward, and embracing personal growth. Think of it as nature’s way of giving us permission to rest, reflect, and recharge. We can’t argue with Mother Nature!
In our modern world, it’s easy to resist and even reject the quiet times. But what if you leaned into it? Instead of fighting the natural cycles, embrace them. Ask yourself what you can learn from the beauty of the season.
Meditation, journaling, practicing yoga, or simply sitting in silence for a few moments each day can help you tap into this quiet wisdom and reflect. You may even find brilliant pieces of yourself you didn’t know were there.
One of the best ways to stay grounded and raise your vibe in winter is to create rituals that bring you joy and meaning. These can be very simple things like lighting a candle in the evening, pulling a daily tarot or oracle card, or making a warm cup of tea with intention, or getting out into that crisp winter air for a walk. Romanticize your days and these seemingly simple things can become little moments of connection that lift your spirits and raise your vibe.
Stay mindful throughout those rituals we just mentioned and your regular routines can be a game changer. When you light a candle, let it symbolize warmth and light returning to your life. When you sip your tea, imagine it nourishing not just your body but your soul as you take in those earth energies the tea embodies. Even when you get dressed, choose something that makes you smile and feel good. These small acts can help to balance you, promote gratitude, and yes, raise your vibes throughout the day.
Winter is connected to the water element—think snow, ice, and the reflective quality of frozen lakes. While water is essential for spiritual growth (hello, emotional depth!), balancing it with the element of fire can help keep your inner fire burning bright throughout the season.
Fire represents passion, creativity, and transformation. To connect with this energy, spend time near literal fire if you can: cozy up by a fireplace or light some candles, you can also brew a simmer pot on the stove, or move your body with some heart pumping exercise. But also think about what your passions are. Is there something new you have been wanting to start? A hobby you’ve been neglecting? Giving time to your passions is an incredible way to connect with the fire element and, yes, raise your vibe as well.
Winter can sometimes feel lonely as we tend to spend more time on our own with less social events in our calendars. Especially for the extroverts out there, it’s important to maintain connections with the special people in your life.
Make an effort to do a FaceTime or IG chat, meet a friend for a cozy beverage or do a festive movie night. You could also join in classes or groups online to connect with others. Spending time with like minded people who are filled with their own high vibe energy can feed our souls and impact us in so many positive ways, especially during the winter months.
On the flip side, I would be careful how much of your energy is spent around individuals that drain you and I know you know who I mean. We all have someone like this in our life. Protecting your energy is crucial in times when you may already be struggling to keep it elevated.
Also remember to make time for spiritual connections with the universe, the earth, your ancestors, or a god or goddess if you follow any. Spend time in prayer, meditation, visualization, gratitude journaling, or whatever practice feels right for you. This type of connection can be a powerful reminder that you’re never truly alone; you’re part of an intricate, interconnected web of life filled with energy and light. This magic surrounds us every moment of the day.
Honouring the body is an act of gratitude and self love. Your body is your vessel, enabling you to live life and have fulfilling experiences.
Listen to what it needs and care for it well. Maybe it’s comforting grounding foods like soups and stews. Maybe it’s extra sleep (hello, luxuriously long nights!). Or maybe movement is what you seek for an energy boost—a yoga class, a brisk walk, a weight training session, or dancing around your living room to your favourite motivating playlist. These are all forms of self care and can help keep your vibe flying high.
Thank your body, honour it, and feed it well. A cared for body is a happy body, and a happy body is what? That’s right, high vibe all the way.
So this is a must all year round but can feel extra important in the winter. Even if it is not your favourite season, recognize its gifts, be thankful for them, and acknowledge the things throughout the season that do bring you joy. Maybe it’s the festive season, that distinct crispness in the air, the sparkle of snow, the excuse to live in cozy sweaters and boots, the perfect warm beverage—there’s beauty and magic within every season even if you have to look a little harder to see it.
A gratitude practice can help shift your perspective and mindset completely. Each morning or evening write down 3 things you are grateful for in that moment. Simple things are just as valid as the bigger things, maybe even more so. The more gratitude you have the more abundance that is drawn into your life.
Seasonal living is my jam. I freaking love living for and embracing each season as it comes. Even summer, my least favourite, which many might find quite weird lol.
Each season comes with its own unique energy and tapping into that energy and embracing it is one of the keys to a happy fulfilling life. Winter is a time of rest and renewal, but also has the promise of life and new beginnings. From death comes rebirth.
Thank about what seeds you would like to plant in your own life? What parts of your life would you like to see bloom in the coming months? Take these calmer months to dream big, make plans, and set fresh goals and intentions. Make a vision board, try scripting, try intuitive journalling, take time for visualization and let this season of stillness prepare you for the growth that lies ahead and the personal growth you can accomplish right now throughout the season.
The cold darkness of winter can seem like a lot for some, but it’s also a moment to truly appreciate the light, both in your environment and within yourself. There can be no light without the darkness after all.
Spend time in natural light whenever you can, even if it’s just sitting by a sunny window. You might also explore the use of light in your magical practice. Use tones of yellow and gold in your visualizations, light a candle during rituals, or meditate in front of a window.
And of course you must nurture your inner light. That is really the theme of this entire post. Nurture your inner light and see those vibe raise higher and higher. Find time to really embrace the things that spark joy within you, bring a smile to your lips, and add positivity to your day.
Also throughout these months make time for some shadow work. Connect with your inner self (all parts of it), acknowledge the shadow parts, and work through them so you can truly let go of any negativity and limiting beliefs that may be causing your light to dim. Winter is most excellent for facing our shadow selves.
Winter can be tough for a lot of people, and one of the most spiritual acts you can do is extend kindness to others. It’s takes nothing to be kind to another but gives so much. Whether it’s donating to a food bank or a charity that you care about, shovelling a neighbour’s driveway, or simply offering a kind word to a stranger, these small acts of service can make a big difference to so many people and will help you radiate light from the inside out.
When we give, we tap into a universal flow of abundance. Being in the spirit of giving means being in a state of abundance because you know there is always enough to go around so that everyone may benefit. This one also takes us back to that feeling of connection and the joy and warmth it brings.
Everything in our world holds energy. There are so many tools that we can utilize to help bring more positive energy into our spheres on a daily basis. These can be especially helpful in the winter. So without further ado let’s jump into them.
ashwaganda, basil, chamomile, cumin, dandelion, ginseng, lavender, lemon balm, licorice, maca, marigold, marjoram, meadowsweet, nettle, peppermint, rose, St. John’s Wort, turmeric, yarrow
amethyst, carnelian, citrine, clear quartz, lapis lazuli, moonstone, peridot, pyrite, jasper, rose quartz, sunstone, tree agate, unakite, yellow aventurine
bergamot, cedar wood, cypress, geranium, grapefruit, jasmine, lavender, lemon, lemon balm, lemongrass, lime, neroli, pine, Roman chamomile, sweet orange, vetiver, ylang ylang
pink, yellow, gold
almonds, apples, avocado, banana, chocolate, clementines, cucumber, dandelion greens, dates, grapes, kiwi, lemon, lentils, lettuce, maple syrup, orange, peach, pumpkinseeds, raspberry, sprouts, sunflower seeds, tangerine, walnuts
Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Niacin (B3), Magnesium, Tyrosine, Green Tea, Tryptophan, Probiotics, Omega 3’s, Caffeine, Ginseng
Finally, remember that winter is just one season in the cycle of life. It’s a reminder that everything is temporary—the cold, the darkness, the stillness. Trust that spring will come, bringing warmth, new growth, and so much life.
In the meantime, embrace this season for what it is: an invitation to slow down, turn inward, and nurture the spark of light within you. Winter, in all its frosty glory, has a beauty of its own. And with a little mindfulness and perspective, you can not only survive through it—you can thrive.
How do you feel in these colder months? Do you need an extra energy boost or is this the time of year you thrive?

Autumn is a magical season, a time when the veil between worlds feels thin, the air is filled with the scent of falling leaves, the meals are warm and comforting, and the nights grow longer, inviting us to what? Curl up with a good witch fiction book of course! If you’re like me, there’s no better way to embrace the cozy, darker atmosphere of fall than by enjoying some magical witch fiction books over these next few weeks.
So for this week’s post I decided to compromise a list of 10 highly recommended and loved witch fiction books (or series) that perhaps you will want to dive into over these darker months of the year. These books are full of magic, mysticism, feel good energy, and a whole lot of girl power lol.
I hope this list of witch fiction books gives you some inspiration for your own autumn reading and perhaps your holiday Wishlist as well! Without further ado, let’s get on with the list of 10 witch fiction books to read this autumn.
Starting with this classic and no list of witch fiction would be complete without it. Alice Hoffman’s timeless Practical Magic. This enchanting novel tells the story of the Owens sisters, Gillian and Sally, who come from a long line of witches but struggle with the family curse that brings tragedy to anyone they fall in love with. Hoffman’s lyrical prose weaves together themes of love, loss, and magic in a way that feels both mystical and deeply human.
If you’re in the mood for something that combines family drama with a touch of whimsy, this is the book for you. Plus, if you somehow haven’t already seen it, once you’re done with the book (or before lo), you can treat yourself to the absolutely perfect 1998 film adaptation starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.

This one is so very cute! I thoroughly enjoyed it this one and it’s perfect for the fall. Cackle is so charming and witty and it blends humour, witchcraft, and female empowerment just perfectly. The story follows Annie, a recently heartbroken woman who moves to a small, picturesque town in search of a fresh start. There, she befriends the enchanting and mysterious Sophie, whose unconventional lifestyle and seemingly magical abilities open Annie’s eyes to the power of embracing her independence.
With its delightful mix of dark humour (favourite of mine!), friendship, and a basket full of magic, Cackle is an uplifting tale about self-discovery, reclaiming your power, and finding strength in the unexpected. This one really teaches a wonderful life lesson.

This one is such fun! I really loved it and can’t wait for the author’s next release. The Secret Society of Irregular Witches is an incredibly heartwarming and magical tale about belonging and the power of the family you find and make for yourself. The story features Mika Moon, a lonely witch who is used to hiding her magic to fit into a world that doesn’t accept witches. Until she’s invited to a mysterious house filled with eccentric soulful residents, including three young witches in need of Mila’s guidance.
So charming and with a delightful sense of whimsy, this uplifting novel weaves together themes of love, acceptance, and the magic that comes from embracing who you truly are just perfectly. A heartwarming and entertaining read.

I love me a good fiction book like this one! A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon is a delightful and quirky romantic comedy with a magical twist. It follows Mariel Spark, a witch whose accidental summoning of a demon, Ozroth the Ruthless, leads to an unexpected and classic rom com style arrangement—pretending to date to avoid a soul-binding deal.
Filled with humour, chemistry, and enchanting world-building, the book is a fun and lighthearted adventure through a world of witches and demons. With its quick banter and heartwarming moments, this is a fun story about love, self-discovery, and embracing your own inner power.

I flew through this series. It’s so good! The Fever series by is an intense and thrilling urban fantasy filled with dark magic, steamy romance, gripping suspense, and excellent characters that you can’t help but love. Set in a beautifully imagined world where the veil between humans and the Fae is dangerously thin, the series follows MacKayla Lane, an ordinary woman whose quest to solve her sister’s murder draws her into a shadowy realm of ancient feuds and deadly secrets.
With powerful action sequences, and complex characters, the Fever series is an absolutely addictive combination of mystery, danger, and lots of passion that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. I read this series three times at this point lol.

This is another one I have read three times and I just love it! The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy by Nora Roberts is a captivating blend of romance, magic, and Irish folklore (a perfect trio!). Set in the lush, enchanting landscapes of Ireland, the trilogy follows the O’Dwyer cousins—Branna, Connor, and Iona—who inherit ancient powers and must unite to battle a centuries-old evil threatening their family.
With its richly atmospheric setting, deeply rooted magical heritage, and heartfelt relationships, the series offers a perfect mix of fantasy and romance. Nora Roberts weaves together magic, love, friendship, and strong family connections in this enchanting tale, making it a spellbinding must read for fans of magical adventures. Probably my absolute favourite of her magical trilogies that I have read.

The Three Sisters Island Trilogy’s the first magical trilogy by Nora Roberts that I had read and I was hooked lol. Another series I have read multiple times. It is a mesmerizing tale of love, magic, and destiny. Set on the mystical Three Sisters Island, the books follow three women—Nell, Ripley, and Mia—who must embrace their inherited witchcraft and confront a powerful curse threatening their home and their hearts. Each book focuses on one of the woman and the challenges she must overcome.
With its gorgeous coastal setting, endearing cast of characters, and a perfect balance of romance and magical adventure, this trilogy is a captivating journey of empowerment, friendship, and finding the strength to face your past. It’s so perfect.

This one was recommended to me by a friend and I was not disappointed. The Key Trilogy is an exciting and magical blend of adventure, romance, and mythology. The series follows three women (as Nora loves to do lol)—Mallory, Dana, and Zoe—who are chosen by fate to embark on a quest to find three ancient keys that will unlock the souls of lost goddesses. With their friendship growing stronger and their hearts opening to love, each woman faces personal challenges while battling dark forces.
Filled with suspense, mystical elements, and of course some romance, this trilogy is an uplifting journey of courage, destiny, love, the power of friendship, and believing in yourself.

This one came highly recommended which is why I picked it up and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book was published about 15 years ago but it is relatively new to me lol. Not sure how I hadn’t come across it before just a couple of years ago. The Witch’s Daughter by is a spellbinding and immersive tale that weaves together history, magic, and timeless themes of love and survival. The novel follows Elizabeth Hawksmith, a 300-year-old witch who has lived through centuries of adventure, heartache, and danger. As she recounts her journey—from 17th-century England to the present day—she confronts her dark past and a dangerous warlock who still hunts her.
Brackston’s unique storytelling and vivid historical detail create a captivating atmosphere, making this novel a perfect read for fans of witchcraft, history, and enduring personal transformation.I will definitely be picking up some of the authors other witchy works.

This is the only book I decided to put on the list that I haven’t actually read because of all the praise it has received and it is on my shelf waiting to be read this autumn. So the story follows Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna—as they reunite to bring back witchcraft and fight for women’s rights during the suffrage movement.
The beautifully built world and themes of sisterhood bonds, resilience, and empowerment seemingly makes this one a must read for witches who love some fiction in their lives. People have really fallen in love with the story and characters here which is why it is on my list for the season. Perhaps we can read it together and compare notes!

Now these are just some of the amazing witch fiction books out there that I thought deserved a mention. There are so many more that would definitely be wonderful additions to your library. And so many amazing titles have come out in recent years I can hardly keep up. I realize some of my favourites are oldies but goodies lol.
So, whether you’re in the mood for a light-hearted and whimsical read or something with a bit of a darker atmosphere these stories will transport you to worlds where witches wield power, confront their pasts, and shape their own destinies. And really, we all need more stories like that in our lives. So get cozy, grab your favourite brew, and curl up with the book here that stands out for you the most.
